In addition to many years of professional experience in maritime communications, Walter also spent considerable time in the corporate business world.
From an innovative Silicon Valley startup (Globe Wireless) to a global leader in remote communications and network services (Harris CapRock), Walt has succeeded at the executive level in demanding business environments.
Walter’s career history is well documented and publicly available on LinkedIn. He has undergone multiple background investigations, been thoroughly vetted, and maintained a SECRET security clearance while working with the U.S. government.
As owner/operator of WJK3, Inc., a technical services company based in Melbourne, Florida, Walt sold, installed, and maintained Blue Ocean Wireless maritime GSM, Inmarsat, and KVH satellite systems. These systems were integrated with vessels’ local area networks and deployed on merchant ships both domestically and internationally.
The image below shows Walt’s workbench, where systems were configured and tested prior to installation. Maritime GSM solutions allowed crew members to use their personal mobile phones to call home from the high seas, turning complex shipboard networks into something that felt simple and familiar to seafarers.
